OPP Officer Charged with Assault Following January Traffic Stop

Kevin Noh, a 35-year-old constable with the Ontario Provincial Police's Highway Safety Division, has been charged with assault and assault with a weapon. These charges stem from a traffic stop conducted on January 2nd in North York. According to the OPP, an unmarked cruiser was used during the stop, and the officer allegedly discharged a conducted energy weapon, commonly known as a taser. The driver of the vehicle was subsequently arrested and taken to the hospital for assessment. The OPP's professional standards unit launched an investigation into the incident. Noh, who has been with the OPP for nine years, is currently assigned to administrative duties. He is scheduled to appear in court in October.
